Neck Diagrams on macOS 27 Golden Gate — Important Notice

So, Apple are releasing macOS 27 Golden Gate on 14th September — catching us a little off guard, we were expecting it nearer the end of the month!

If you use Neck Diagrams on a Mac, there’s something important you need to know before hitting that update button.

macOS 27 removes Rosetta 2. Neck Diagrams 2 currently relies on Rosetta 2 to run on Apple Silicon Macs, which means that if you upgrade to macOS 27, Neck Diagrams will stop working. Not ideal, we know.

The good news is that we’ve been working on a brand new native Apple Silicon version that won’t need Rosetta 2 at all. We were hoping to have it ready by now — and we’re sorry we didn’t quite get there in time — but we’re aiming to release around the end of September or early October 🤞.

So for now, our advice is simple: don’t upgrade to macOS 27 just yet if Neck Diagrams is part of your workflow. Stick with your current macOS version and everything will keep working exactly as it always has. It’s probably safest to wait for the first bugfix point release anyway!
